Preview: Wrexham vs Barnsley – prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday’s League One clash between Wrexham and Barnsley, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Wrexham The aim is to get the third win in a row in League One at the first meeting Barnsley to Wales on Tuesday evening for what is shaping up to be an interesting affair.

The home team is second in the First League tablefour points behind leaders Wycombe Wanderers, while Barnsley are sixth, having taken 27 points from their first 17 games of the season.

Wrexham were beaten 1-0 at Stockport County in mid-November but have bounced back impressively from that result, beating Exeter City and Lincoln City in their last two games.

Wrexham have picked up 25 points from their nine home league games this season, by far the best record in the division, but Barnsley have been impressive on their travels, securing 16 points from eight games.

The Tykes are also expected to be in the promotion battle at the end of the season and they currently sit sixth in the table having picked up 27 points from their first 17 games of the season.

However, Barnsley are winless in four games in all competitions, including a penalty shootout defeat to Bristol Rovers in the second round of the FA Cup on Saturday, so their journey in this season’s competition is already over.

Barnsley have not beaten Wrexham since 2003 but this game will be the first meeting between the two sides since April 2025, when it ended in a 2-2 draw at Oakwell.

Wrexham have not reported any injury concerns since their clash with Lincoln on November 26th, so head coach Parkinson is expected to have the same squad for this game.
