Phoenix Suns reveal starters for NBA Cup Finals

PHOENIX – Ahead of the NBA Cup group stage final against the San Antonio Spurs, the Phoenix Suns have announced their following lineup against the San Antonio Spurs:

Tyus Jones
Bradley Beal
Devin Booker
Kevin Durant
Oso Ighodaro

The Suns will be without Jusuf Nurkic tonight due to a quadriceps injury. Phoenix listed Bradley Beal as probable last night due to his calf strain, but the star guard was upgraded to available earlier today.

The Suns are winners of their last two of three matchups before today’s tipoff at 7 p.m. against former point guard Chris Paul and San Antonio. This is their first meeting of the season, with the next one coming in the penultimate game of the regular season in April.

Jones remains one of the best free agent signings in the league, as his availability (he played all 19 games) and 6.5 assist-to-turnover ratio have given the Suns a huge boost, in addition to his scoring exploits when necessary.

Beal returns after a one-game absence, although he has missed eight games so far this season. He has scored at least 23 points in his three of four games.

After a narrow 17-point effort against the Magic on Nov. 17, Booker’s matched his scoring output with performances of 33, 26, 31 and 27 in the last four games, all shooting 40% or better from the field. He will once again be a strong supporter of a Suns win.

Durant leads the team with 26.8 points per night, and the Slim Reaper has been incredibly efficient, shooting 53.2%. Turnovers continue to be a problem as he has had a total of 10 turnovers over the last two nights.

In place of Mason Plumlee’s fifth start in Nurkic’s absence (he grabbed at least 11 rebounds in three of his previous four starts), the Suns are rolling with the rookie in Ighodaro.
