Is it time for Steve Kerr to shorten the Warriors’ rotation? Curry, others suggest yes.

Golden State’s hot start to the season has suffered a record dip – the team has lost four straight games, with its offense and defense ranking in the bottom 10 during that stretch. The problem wasn’t Stephen Curry or even Andrew Wiggins and Buddy Hield.

However, much of the rest of the 12-man rotation that coach Steve Kerr relied on at the start of the season has fallen away. As NBC Sports Bay Area notedIn the last six games, Jonathan Kuminga was 5 of 25 from 3-pointers, Moses Moody was 3 of 16, Brandin Podziemski was 5 of 25 and Lindy Waters was 9 of 31. This has led to questions about whether the inconsistency of a player’s rotations and minutes plays a role played in this break-in.

Curry thinks it might help speaking to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

“Do we have to shorten it?” Curry said. “We probably need to be more predictable from night to night so the guys can find a bit of a rhythm. Does that shorten it by one or two guys? Perhaps.”

“It’s hard as hell,” Curry said. “There is no way around it. Mo played two minutes tonight. Kyle played seven. Two games ago, Mo had a stretch where he had 15 (points) and then played four minutes in the second half. It’s hard for everyone. The coach’s job is.” It’s our job to help him. If you don’t play, don’t bring the locker room to a grinding halt.

Kevon Looney added this: via Monte Poole on NBC Sports Bay Area.

“Sometimes it can be difficult to find a rhythm when you don’t know what to expect from game to game,” Kevon Looney said. “But our guys are doing a good job of staying ready. Everyone knows they’ll get in at some point.”

“(Kerr) will play against all of us at some point. I just have to be ready at this point in the game to provide a spark, bring energy and make plays.”

It’s something to watch. The Warriors have a couple of tough games ahead of them, against Denver (an NBA Cup game, but the Warriors have already won the group, while the Nuggets are not mathematically eliminated since they have effectively suffered two losses) and Houston. We’ll see if Kerr reduces his rotations a bit or if he’ll try to continue to get that depth.
