Jennifer Tilly finds the silver lining in her divorce.

On the December 3rd episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly HillsThe 66-year-old actress discussed her own divorce from ex-husband Sam Simon, while the other housewives discussed their respective breakups with their former spouses.

“It takes a really long time to get over a divorce,” she remembers. “My ex-husband was Sam Simon, who (co-created) The Simpsons. I was married to him for seven years. We were together for about ten years and then when we divorced I got a piece of it The Simpsons in the divorce agreement.

“Nobody knew that The Simpsons would go on for trillions of years,” she added with a laugh. “Honestly, every day I think, ‘Thanks, Sam!'”

Tilly joined RHOBH as a “friend” for season 14 alongside newcomer Bozoma “Boz” Saint John. Before the season premiere, the Chucky alum told vulture that she has “always been a superfan” of the hit reality show and is looking forward to taking on her new role.

But after filming for a while, she admitted it wasn’t all as glamorous as she thought and revealed what surprised her the most.

“I remember thinking, ‘I live in Beverly Hills and it would be kind of fun to see Beverly Hills through the lens of really rich people,'” she explained. “I thought I would see a lot of people shopping on Rodeo Drive, but a lot of the filming takes place in the Valley, in places where it’s easier to get permits. So it’s not like you’re hanging out in the fanciest places in Beverly Hills and arguing.”

“They usually fight somewhere outside of Beverly Hills because the really fancy, elite places don’t want housewives screaming at each other in their dining room,” she added.

Tilly said she never thought she would star on the Bravo series – and has even turned down the opportunity before – but this year she decided to take on the “challenge.”

“For me it’s like working with Martin Scorsese,” she said. “My friend always says that if he had $40 million he would want to go to space and experience weightlessness. For me to be on housewives experiences weightlessness. I was more excited to meet Kyle Richards and Erika Jayne and the other ladies than I was when I met Elizabeth Taylor.”
