A Chicago woman asks Trump’s border czar to make an example of the mayor

An angry woman called on President-elect Donald Trump and Tom Homan, whom he appointed as his “border czar,” to “make an example” of Mayor Brandon Johnson at a Chicago City Council meeting on Monday.

Danielle Carter-Walters, a fitness trainer from Chicago, took aim at Mayor Johnson over the city’s ongoing refugee crisis and his promise to resist the Trump administration’s deportation efforts.

“Trump, Tom Homan, first make an example of this n*gro here,” she said. “Please come here first, because guess what? We will help you.”

Johnson then interrupted Carter-Walters and said her language needed to remain appropriate. She continued by addressing someone else at the meeting, whom she accused of spending public money to protect “illegals.”

“They’re going to spend our tax dollars… They said we should take Trump to court to protect these illegals,” the spokesman claimed. “You said you would spend our tax dollars to bring Trump to justice and protect these illegals when they try to come into your district. And then you said you all should talk to each other in kahoots to do it.”

Carter-Walters, who along with other speakers at the meeting wore a “Chicago Flips Red” shirt, added: “We’re going to make you all famous.”

“Okay, now it’s about making you all famous. We will let all voters know who they support, that they want to spend all of our tax dollars protecting illegals and providing them with legal services,” she said. “So that’s what we do. That’s cool because we want to make you all famous.”

Johnson said in a statement after Trump’s victory that he would not “back away” when it comes to “fighting all hate.”

“It is my responsibility and the responsibility of all elected officials to protect the rights and freedoms of our constituents and to lead with vision and conviction,” the statement said. “Chicago will continue to move forward, and we will do so by staying true to our values.”

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker made a similar promise not to support possible deportation raids by the Trump administration.
