It’s Wednesday and you know what that means: it’s time for another round Connections!

Fortnite is one of those games that I really get into for six weeks and then put it aside for six months. Then something will captivate me again. Last time it was the cool Gods and Monsters season. This time it’s not about the Ronin-themed season or the interesting new movement abilities. No, it is this:

I can’t wait to make it the next time my frighteningly young teammates carry me to a Victory Royale.

Regular readers (at least those of you who read the daily recommendation at the end of each column) may know that I’m a fan of Chappell Roan. Thanks to her amazing album and unforgettable performances, she is the biggest star of the year. So finally having the “Hot To Go” dance as an emote Fortnite – something I’ve been waiting for since the summer – made my day.

I hope you have already found what will brighten your day too.

Today NYT Connections Hints and answers for Wednesday, December 4th will follow soon.

How to play connections

Connections is a free, popular one New York Times daily pun. You will receive a new puzzle every day at midnight. You can play on that NYT Website or gaming app.

You will be presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to divide them into four groups of four by figuring out the connections between them. The groups can be, for example, elements that you can click on, names of research participants, or words preceded by a body part.

Each puzzle has only one solution, and you have to be careful when it comes to words that could fit into more than one category. You can mix up the words to perhaps better see the connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, blue and green are in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult. The purple group often contains puns.

Select four words that you think go together and click Send. If you guess and are wrong, you lose a life. When you’re close to finding the right group, you may see a message saying you’re one word away from the right group, but you still need to figure out which word to swap.

If you make four mistakes, the game is over. Let’s make sure that this doesn’t happen with the help of some tips, and if you really find it difficult, even with today’s ones Connections Answer. Like with Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

If you have one NYT You can access the publications with the All Access or Games subscription Connections Archive. This includes every previous game from Connectionsso you can go back and play any songs you missed.

Aside from the first 60 or so games, you should be able to find my clues for each grid via Google if you need to! Simply click here and enter the date of the game for which you need hints or answers to the search query.

What are today’s connection solutions?

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today Connections Answer.

This is your final warning!

Today Connections Answers are…

  • Yellow group – control (DIRECT, GUIDE, LEAD, SHEPHERD)
  • Green group – things with needle(s) (COMPASS, PINE, SEWING SET, ROTARY PLAYER)
  • Blue group – figures from Greek mythology (ATLAS, ECHO, HELEN, PAN)
  • Purple group – starting with synonyms for toilet (CANDLE, JOHNSON, LOOFAH, TOILETRIES)

It wasn’t a perfect game today, but I was very happy with my opening guess. I now have seven wins in a row. This is what happened to me:

At first I thought the pine tree, candle and toiletries were part of a group of pleasant smelling things. But no! As I looked around the starting grid, JOHNSON caught my eye. This struck me as a strange shot. And then when I looked back at TOILETRIES, the purples clicked.

It’s been a while since we last had a purple group like this, so I was convinced that these four would fit together, and I was right. As a reminder: the synonyms are can, john, loo and toilet. I’ve never called it “John” or “Can.”

My search for my second “truly perfect” game (Purple, Blue, Green and Yellow in that order with no errors) was quickly over for another day. I tried to guess SEWING SET, COMPASS, ROTARY PLAYER and ATLAS, with a group of “things that spin”.

But obviously a globe is spinning, not an ATLAS. And a spool of thread would be spinning, not a complete SEWING KIT. Stupid of me.

However, I was far away from a group and quickly realized my mistake. I swapped ATLAS for PINE TREE to get the greens. At this point I had a clear idea of the yellow tones. I was right about that, but I submitted the blues first. I didn’t find out this connection, but I probably would have found it between ATLAS and HELEN.

PS: I’m enjoying my little look back at the Christmas number one singles from the UK – or at least songs that should have had that honor. In 2010, this year’s winner was The X Factor released a cover of a song by Biffy Clyro, a band I love very much.

It was a pretty bold and unconventional song choice for Matt Cardle, the winner of the biggest reality competition show at the time, especially considering the violent lyrics (the song is about both sides of falling in love with someone). It’s actually not a bad cover – although I don’t like the overproduced final chorus and its key change. In any case, many worse songs have held the Christmas number one spot:

However, renaming the song from “Many of Horror” to “When We Collide” is a huge downgrade. Plus, the original is a really nice, textured rock ballad that’s much better than Cardle’s cover. As my fellow Scots and I say: “Mon the Biff:

I wish you a wonderful day! Call someone you love!
