Taylor Swift retains her top spot on DC’s Spotify Wrapped

It’s that time of year again: Christmas trees are growing and music listeners are flooding social media with their Spotify Wrapped results. The popular streaming service’s annual roundup of individual users’ listening habits has become a winter publishing tradition — and, thanks to Spotify’s data, a chance to see (and hear!) which songs and artists were most popular in DC.

Despite snubbing us on the Eras Tour and forcing the local Swifties to go to Philly instead, Taylor Swift is DC’s top artist for 2024, followed by Drake and Future. Swift also topped the list in 2022 and 2023, while Drake came in at No. 2 or No. 3.

Swift also had DC’s top album Moody with her The Tortured Poets Section: The Anthologythe second half of a double album. Sabrina Carpenter’s Short and sweet and Chappell Roans The Rise and Fall of a Midwestern Princess took the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Like Swift, neither artist performed in DC this year: Carpenter toured to Baltimore, while Roan withdrew from All Things Go the day before the festival due to health reasons.

Some of the most popular catchy tunes hitting Washingtonians include Sabrina Carpenter’s pop hit “Espresso” and Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” and Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss track “Not Like Us.” (It seems we’re hearing both sides of the Drake/Kendrick feud; who says bipartisanship is dead?) Woodbridge, Virginia native Tommy Richman’s song “Million Dollar Baby” debuted at No. 4, with a nod to the karaoke bar in Woodbridge Ladies Gambit.
