Why is Fortnite’s Ready Up button disabled?

Thanks to a record-breaking virtual concert, Chapter 6, Season 1 begins Fortnite has already generated a lot of hype among fans online. But since the start of the new season on Sunday, not everything has been going smoothly. In particular, the “Ready Up” button that appears at the end of a game and allows you to start a new game disappeared the same day the new patch went live.

Now players who want to play multiple games in a row have to return to the lobby to load another game and suffer the hassle of an extra step if they want to continue playing.

The official Fortnite status account on X confirmed the change on Sunday. According to the developers, the team has disabled the “Investigate an issue” button. Epic Games didn’t provide a time frame for when the developers would restore the feature, but said it would return in a “future update.” The post instructed those who want to play another game to return to the lobby and join a new game from there. (Polygon didn’t play the game until Monday afternoon and the button was still missing.)

This change doesn’t affect the overall experience, but it can definitely be annoying. I already have to tell my squadmates to click the “Ready” button when everything is working. Now this adds an extra (and completely unnecessary) step to this process. If you do it over and over again, it can add up over time.

The missing button dampens the outstanding debut a little Fortniteis the new content season. Players attended the “Remix: The Finale” concert with Juice WRLD in record-breaking numbers on Saturday. According to Epic Games, the event was the most watched Fortnite concert of all time and counted more than 14 million simultaneous players. This and the introduction of a Japanese-inspired map and loot pool have given players a reason to look forward to this new era of Fortnite.
