2025 four-star safety Lagonza Hayward leaves Tennessee Vols

Four-star 2025 safety Lagonza Hayward was decommitted from Tennessee on Sunday.

Hayward committed to the Vols on July 27. He unofficially visited Tennessee on October 12 for the Florida game and on October 19 when the Vols hosted Alabama.

The 6-foot, 200-pound safety hails from Toombs County High School in Lyons, Georgia.

Hayward is the No. 72 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports. He is also the No. 9 safety and No. 9 player in Georgia, according to 247Sports.

According to Tom Loy of 247Sports, Hayward is expected to transfer to Florida.

Tennessee has 24 commitments in its 2025 recruiting class after Hayward’s waivers: quarterback George MacIntyre, defensive lineman Ethan Utley, tight end Jack Vandorselaer, cornerback Dylan Lewis, running back Justin Baker, wide receiver Joakim Dodson, cornerback Tyler Redmond, safety Sidney Walton, wide receiver Radarious Jackson, offensive lineman Antoni Kade Ogumoro, edge Jayden Loftin, offensive lineman Nic Moore, defensive lineman Charles House, cornerback Tre Poteat, edge Mariyon Dye, wide receiver Travis Smith Jr., linebacker Christian Gass, tight end Da’Saahn Brame, defensive lineman Darrion Smith, offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. and linebacker Jaedon Harmon, cornerback Onis Konanbanny and linebacker Brenden Anes and running back Down Morris.
