Man United coach Ruben Amorim warns fans: “Storm will come”

Ruben Amorim has warned Manchester United fans that despite his positive start as head coach, “a storm is coming”.

Amorim is unbeaten in his three games as manager and led United to their biggest league win since 2021 with a 4-0 win over Everton on Sunday.

The 39-year-old takes his team to Arsenal on Wednesday and has hinted that they will eventually be “discovered” as the players continue to grapple with his methods.

“I would like to say different things, but I have to say it again: the storm will come,” Amorim said.

“I don’t know if you use this expression, but we will have difficult moments and in some games we will fail. I know this because I know my players and I know football and I follow football. We’re there.” The point is that we implement simple things as a team without training.

“So let’s focus on every game, on the performance, on what we need to improve, on trying to win games. And that is the focus. I know it’s really hard to be Manchester United manager and say these things in press conferences.”

“We always want to win, no matter what happens, we will try to win, but we know we are in a different place compared to Arsenal.”

While Amorim’s players are still learning about his tactical system, Amorim is also learning about United.

The Portuguese coach has been in charge for three weeks since replacing Erik ten Hag and he has admitted he was surprised by the attention and workload that comes with managing one of the world’s biggest clubs.

“A little bit because you don’t know what life is like in a club like that,” he said.

“So it’s always a surprise. I think I can do it, but you have to do so much more than just coaching the team. You improve yourself and other things about yourself as a coach, you have to manage your time differently.”

“You have less time to prepare for the games, not only because you play after two days, but also because you have a lot to do. I can say I was a little surprised, but at the same time I expected something different.”
