Why Phil Foden will be absent for Manchester City against Nottingham Forest tonight

Phil Foden is missing from Manchester City’s squad to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League tonight, it has been confirmed.

Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City side will be hoping for their first win in the competition since October 26, when the club beat Southampton 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium thanks to a single goal from Erling Haaland.

Since then, the Premier League champions have gone on a run of seven games across all competitions without a win and have suffered defeat in four Premier League games in a row.

That record has seen Manchester City drop into the play-off places in the UEFA Champions League table, while they are now 11 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool following their 2-0 defeat at Anfield on Sunday afternoon lay.

With Nuno Espirito Santo’s high-flying and impressive Nottingham Forest the next challenge for Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has another problem to contend with in his already depleted senior squad.

As Manchester City’s official starting line-up confirmed at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening, Phil Foden will not take part in the competition as Nottingham Forest have been left out of the matchday squad.
