Sources – 4-star QB Madden Iamaleava is leaving UCLA for Arkansas

Four-star quarterback Madden Iamaleava, No. 143 in the 2025 ESPN 300, returned his commitment to Arkansas from UCLA on Wednesday afternoon, multiple sources told ESPN.

Just minutes after Iamaleava’s transfer was announced, three-star UCLA wide receiver Jace Brown – Iamaleava’s teammate from California’s Long Beach Polytechnic High School – announced his commitment to Arkansas, sealing a one-two punch for the new class dealt a devastating blow to UCLA.

Iamaleava, ESPN’s No. 8 pocket passer in 2025, was the top-ranked member of DeShaun Foster’s first recruiting class with the Bruins. His move not only leaves UCLA without an ESPN 300 commitment in the 2025 cycle, but it also deprives Foster of a top local signee as he works to build the Bruins through a talent-focused recruiting pitch from the state into the program.

Meanwhile, Iamaleava’s move to Arkansas represents a boon for Sam Pittman’s recruiting. The younger Iamaleava, brother of Tennessee sophomore passer Nico Iamaleava, lands as the second-ranked member of the Razorbacks’ 2025 class and the first top-300 quarterback recruit of the program since Malik Hornsby arrived at Arkansas in the 2020 class.

Iamaleava was denied eligibility for his senior season this fall after transferring from Warren High School in California to Long Beach Polytechnic. He led Warren to an 11-3 record in his first season as the starting quarterback as a junior in 2023.

Iamaleava joins a pair of in-state quarterbacks in the Razorbacks’ newest class, joining four-star passer Grayson Wilson (No. 280 in the ESPN 300) and three-star dual threat Quentin Murphy. He marks Arkansas’ fifth ESPN 300 signee in a class led by four-star outside linebacker Tavion Wallace, No. 45 in the ESPN 300, who signed Wednesday amid late flip pushes from Florida State and Georgia has signed. Brown lands with the Razorbacks as the highest-ranked of two wide receiver signings heading to Arkansas in the 2025 class.
