Arsenal vs Manchester United Player Ratings – The league leaders star as the Gunners claim a big win

LONDON – On a wild Wednesday evening in north London, it was great fun handing out Arsenal’s player ratings against Manchester United.

Thanks to second-half set-piece goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba, Arsenal got the win they wanted and the Gunners reduced Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table to just seven points.

Below are Arsenal vs Manchester United player ratings out of 10 after a tight, tense game at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal player ratings

David Raya: 8 – Made an excellent save from De Ligt at a crucial moment in the game and then also made a save from Antony as he was holding his own. I didn’t have much to do other than make it big.

Jurrien Timber:8 – He scored his first Arsenal goal with a header at the near post. Played right-back and left-back. So important for Arsenal. Unsung hero.

William Saliba:7 – Hojlund never looked nervous and scored the second goal after causing havoc in the penalty area.

Jakub Kiwior: 6 – Worked absolutely well when he filled in for Gabriel. Hojlund turned it around a few times, but it was a solid performance.

Oleksandr Zinchenko:6 – Showed up in some good areas in the future. Brought down Diallo in the second half and was immediately sent off.

Martin Odegaard: 8 – Did what he does best. He buzzed around, picked up the tempo in the second half and Arsenal are just a different team with him.

Thomas Partey:7 – Missed a great chance early on but was crucial to Arsenal’s second goal. Played at center, center and right back.

Declan Rice:7 – Like Odegaard, he pushed Arsenal forward and increased the tempo in the second half. Won in midfield and set up the first goal with a great corner.

Bukayo Saka: 8 – His corners were also excellent and Saka just never stops running. Fantastic performance even if he didn’t score a goal.

Kai Havertz: 6 – A bit quiet and didn’t take advantage of some half chances that came his way. Worked hard as always.

Gabriel Martinelli:5 – Missed a big chance in the first half and just couldn’t get going.

Substitutions
Mikel Merino (substituted for Zinchenko, 71st minute): 6 – Missed a great chance with a header. Helped keep the pace high.
Leandro Trossard (substituted for Martinelli, 71st minute): 7 – Real quality on the ball, created chances and Arsenal looked really dangerous after coming on.
Jorginho (substituted for Odegaard in the 90th minute): N/A

Manchester United player ratings

André Onana:6 – Couldn’t do much in terms of goals and didn’t have to make any big saves.

Matthijs de Ligt:6 – He came close to equalizing with a powerful header, but couldn’t stop Arsenal’s set-piece dominance.

Harry Maguire: 6 – See above. Did well during the game and kept Havertz largely calm. Substituted in the second half. You have to be a leader and stop United looking so weak from set pieces.

Noussair Mazraoui: 6 – Here too, see above. He had some nice passes from the back and was calm on the ball in the first half.

Diogo Dalot: 6 – Missed a shot by inches in the first half. Played well as a right and left full-back.

Manuel Ugarte: 5 – Overpowering in midfield and looked lost and off the pace.

Bruno Fernandes:6 – Some clever free kicks and worked hard.

Tyrell Malacia:5 – It’s hard for him to compete against Saka after such a long break. Substituted at half time.

Mason Mount: 5 – Didn’t have much of an impact. Seems so far from the player he was a few years ago.

Alejandro Garnacho: 5 – Pretty anonymous. Ran the ball out of the field and simply couldn’t take advantage of counterattacks.

Rasmus Hojlund:7 – He ran to the ground, held the ball well and was a nuisance for the Arsenal defense.

Substitutions
Amad Diallo (46th minute for Malacia): 7 – Lively and forced, a few mistakes.
Leny Yoro (59th minute for Maguire): 5 – Youngster is a real talent but gets bullied at set pieces.
Joshua Zirkzee (59th minute for Garnacho): 5 – Could not intervene in the game when Arsenal took over.
Marcus Rashford (59th minute for Mount): 6 – Did his best to get forward and send in crosses.
Antony (79th minute for Hojlund): 5 – Missed a great chance from a quick free kick.
