LOS ANGELES – A passenger on a United Airlines flight to Los Angeles was recently filmed in a violent outburst as he repeatedly kicked a seat and smashed a plastic tray until other travelers stepped in to restrain him.

In a video taken by another passenger, the man can be seen standing on a seat, repeatedly kicking the cushion and destroying the plastic tray table.

Gino Galofaro said he filmed the incident and then worked with others to restrain the man.

“I took the video real quick and watched the flight attendant walk by and do nothing,” Galofaro told our sister station KABC. “Nobody on the plane did anything. So I stood up and started holding him. Two other passers-by were given cable ties by the flight attendant. So we had to hold him with cable ties and then strap him to the seat.”

United says law enforcement met the plane upon its arrival at LAX. The passenger was banned from all future flights of the airline.

The incident occurred Nov. 16 on United Flight 502 from Austin, Texas, to LAX.
