NWS Indianapolis warns of snowfall and strong winds in central Indiana

In a weather briefing Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service Indianapolis is warning of strong wind gusts and snowfall this evening as snow moves across central Indiana, mostly north of Interstate 74.

That’s what meteorologists expect.

When does it snow in Indiana?

Snow reduces visibility and creates slippery roads for drivers.

Snowfall is expected to be half an inch to an inch. The highest potential snowfall rates will occur between 7 p.m. and midnight. The snow will move northeast around 11 p.m

Wind warning is in effect on Wednesday evening

A wind warning is in effect from 6:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. Thursday. for central and northern Indiana.
