NetEase’s new Spider-Man-style open-world gacha RPG has a real name – Ananta

Netease’s free-to-play open-world gacha RPG Project Mugen now has a real name: Ananta. As Edwin points out in The Maw, it’s very much like Spider-Man meets Zenless Zone Zero, with its mix of city thugs and unabashed anime teenagers with long, flowing hair and a penchant for metal accessories.

Project Mugen debuted in August 2023, when developers Naked Rain released a slick trailer that showed its anime cast (technically not) whirling through an elaborately presented city, driving cars and cyberbikes through the neon-colored streets. It attracted a lot of attention. IGN has an interview from later this year that talks about combat and microtransactions. Then there is a little silence.

Naked Rain showed up in February 2024 with a bit of Chinese New Year art. In August, they held a recruiting event in Shanghai where fans could talk to the developers and potentially join the team (here’s a link to a Reddit post that sums it all up). nice). Now they’ve released a trailer announcing the game’s name change, as well as an overview with excerpts from the gameplay footage.

Another trailer will be released on December 4th, hopefully revealing a little more about what to expect Strictly speaking stand up. You can pre-register on Ananta’s website, but there’s no release date yet.
