Lakers legend ‘mortified’ by recent loss to Miami Heat

Magic Johnson experienced numerous defeats by the Los Angeles Lakers.

In 2008, they fell behind by 39 points when the Boston Celtics won Game 6 of the NBA Finals. In 1985, Johnson was part of the Lakers team that lost to the Celtics by 34 points in Game 1 of the 1985 Finals.

But nothing compared to what Johnson experienced Wednesday night in Miami, as the Lakers lost by 41 to the Heat. Johnson was so disappointed that he expressed his feelings on social media.

Here’s what Johnson said after the game

While the other losses mentioned above came against elite teams, Wednesday’s loss came against a mid-tier Eastern Conference team. This also happened after the Lakers lost by 29 points in their previous game.

Even Lakers star LeBron James was upset by the performance.

“It definitely sucks getting your ass to cry like that twice in a row, definitely,” James said.

The Lakers are just four years removed from James leading them to a title in the Orlando Bubble season. Since then they have struggled to regain that form. They were defeated by the Denver Nuggets in the 2023 Western Conference Finals. At 12-10 this season, they appear to be headed for another play-in tournament appearance.
