Rain showers will continue tonight with the possibility of some embedded thunderstorm activity through overnight. With these storms, we are not expecting any severe weather tonight. The storms begin to subside in the late morning hours. It’s still a good idea to plan for a rainy/drizzly morning for our local bus drivers/morning commuters.

Although rainfall totals are not expected to cause flooding tonight, we expect two more rainfall events over the next seven days. This will result in some higher rainfall totals across the area. Ahead of a cold front, strong tropical moisture will be drawn into the area, leaving us with heavy rains next week. Exact totals cannot be determined yet, but the bottom line is that there will be plenty of precipitation throughout the week.

Tomorrow morning, after our storms clear the area, it will be a cloudy day with lots of wind. Temperatures will drop throughout the day. We will start in the lower 60s and fall back into the 40s overnight.

This pattern will continue over the next 7 days, which will see off-and-on rain and rollercoaster temperatures.

Temperatures will be slightly warmer despite the clouds, reaching 60° by late afternoon.

This slight warming will be short-lived as a cold front moves through late tonight/early tomorrow.

Showers and storms will become stronger in the afternoon, with isolated rainfall over areas north of Highway 190 during the evening commute.

Rainfall will then move south overnight, with the possibility of heavy rain and a few thunderstorms during the overnight hours, dissipating from the area around dawn on Thursday.

Once the front passes temperatures will start to drop and Thursday looks to be one of those days where we will hit our high fairly early and it will cool down for the rest of the day.

Cloud cover will not clear until Friday and will quickly return to the area as the weekend begins.

The forecast for the weekend is a little less clear as another front is expected, but this time it looks like it will stall over Acadiana, ushering in a very unsettled period of weather.

Showers are likely to continue on and off for several days on Sunday, which could lead to localized flooding, so this will be important to keep an eye on over the next few days.
