Snow is coming to New Hampshire on Wednesday; Slippery commute on Thursday

CONCORD, NH – The National Weather Service issued winter weather and hazardous weather alerts Wednesday, warning of 2 to 7 inches of snow in Hillsborough and Merrimack counties, as well as the Lakes Region and North Country.

Forecasters said “an Alberta Clipper-like system” would approach the state, bringing snow and rain depending on ground temperatures. Snow will accumulate during the overnight hours Wednesday evening and Thursday morning as temperatures drop, and a slippery commute Thursday morning is “likely,” a warning said. Somewhere in the range of 2 to 7 inches is expected in the state, although forecasters said “snowfall amounts will be light” in most patch communities.

At least 2 to 4 inches is expected in Concord and the Capital Region, at least 2 inches in Nashua and Hillsborough County, and about 1 inch on the Seacoast.

However, highways and roadways will be “affected due to snow accumulations on untreated roads.” The warning, issued around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, said: “Periods of moderate and heavy snowfall and poor visibility will result in hazardous driving conditions.” The dangerous ones Conditions could impact the Thursday morning commute.”

Commuters were advised to “slow down and exercise caution while traveling.” Streets, stairs, sidewalks and driveways “could also be icy and slippery.”

The consultation is active from Wednesday, December 4th, 7 p.m. to Thursday, December 5th, 12 p.m.

The storm is expected to have wind gusts ranging from 25 to 35 mph in the Capital Region, 23 to 29 mph in southern New Hampshire and 24 to 32 mph along the coast.
