When will “Grinch” and “Frosty the Snowman” air Thursday on NBC?

Frosty the Snowman and the Grinch is back on NBC, but Thursday’s broadcast on 9NEWS will be delayed due to the Cavs-Nuggets game.

DENVER – The holiday season is here and NBC has a slew of holiday programming planned leading up to the New Year.

“How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “Frosty the Snowman” are scheduled to air Thursday, December 5 on NBC.

For most NBC viewers, the classic animated Christmas shows air on Thursday in prime time.

However, if you live in Colorado, including the Denver metro area, the shows will not air at regular prime time times. That’s because 9NEWS will be broadcasting the Denver Nuggets game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Coverage of the Nuggets and Cavaliers begins at 4:30 p.m. on 9NEWS.

For Colorado viewers, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” will instead air on Friday, December 6 at 1:12 a.m. on 9NEWS, followed by “Frosty the Snowman” on Friday at 1:42 a.m. on 9NEWS.

An encore of “Frosty The Snowman” is scheduled for Wednesday, December 11th at 7pm on 9NEWS, followed by “Shrek the Halls.”

There’s a double dose of the Grinch on NBC on Christmas Day. The 1966 animated film will air in prime time, followed by the 2000 live-action Jim Carrey film How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

The special is hosted by Smokey Robinson and Halle Bailey and features performances from Motown legends.

E! News presents NBC’s Hot 10 of 2024

  • Thursday, December 12, 9:15-10:00 p.m. (a one-hour extended version will air December 26 at 8:00 p.m.)

Hosted by Justin Sylvester and Keltie Knight, the special will highlight the most memorable moments of the year.

Christmas in Little Big Town at the Opry

  • Monday, December 16th, 8-10 p.m. (encore on December 19th at 8 p.m.)

A Saturday Night Live Christmas

It’s a wonderful life

  • Tuesday, December 24th, 8-11 p.m

NBC presents the Frank Capra classic starring Jimmy Stewart: “An angel is sent from heaven to help a desperately frustrated businessman by showing him what life would have been like if he had never existed.”


Christmas Eve mass

  • Tuesday, December 24, 11:30 p.m. – 1 a.m

Spectators can watch the mass led by Pope Francis in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas
