Power outages were reported across the state

(WFSB) – Customers across Connecticut reported power outages during a storm that brought snow and rain Thursday morning.

As of 9:55 a.m., Eversource reported 15,487 customers without power.

Cities including Canterbury, Columbia, Ellington, Hampton, Mansfield, Montville, Somers and Stafford reported hundreds of customers without power.

At times, more than 70 percent of the city’s customers were in Stafford.

Eversource wants to remind customers to stay away from a downed power line if they see one.

“As with any hazardous weather approaching our area, we are closely monitoring the forecast and are prepared to respond to possible power outages or damage to the electrical system. With snow and rain forecast for tonight and strong winds expected through the weekend, we have taken all appropriate steps to ensure our crews and equipment are ready,” said Tricia Modifica, Media Relations Manager at Eversource. “If a customer does experience a power outage, we remind them to always stay away from broken cords – which includes keeping pets away – and to report it to 911 immediately.”

Outages can be reported to Eversource on its website here.

United Illuminating reported a handful of outages in Milford and Woodbridge.
