Yesterday, Dylan — known for hits like “Visions of Johanna,” “Like a Rolling Stone,” “Desolation Row,” “Positively Fourth Street,” “It Ain’t Me Babe” and more — shared his first-ever public comment on the upcoming biopic, which is set to hit theaters on December 25th.

“There’s a film coming out about me called A Complete Unknown (what a title!). Timothee Chalamet plays the main role. Timmy is a brilliant actor, so I’m sure he’ll be as believable as I am. Or a younger me. Or any other me,” Dylan wrote.

The singer then reminded everyone to read Elijah Wald’s 2015 book on which the film is based.

“The film is adapted from Elijah Wald’s “Dylan Goes Electric” – a book that was published in 2015. It’s a fantastic retelling of the events from the early 1960s that led to the Newport fiasco. After you see the movie, read the book,” Dylan said.

In addition to starring, Chalamet also served as one of the producers, with Dylan serving as executive producer alongside Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Andrew Rona himself.

Directed by James Mangold, the film features an ensemble cast including Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Dan Fogler and others.

“Set in the influential New York music scene of the early 1960s, the film follows 19-year-old Minnesota musician Bob Dylan (Chalamet)’s meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts – his songs and mystique becoming ever more so “a worldwide sensation – culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock ‘n’ roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965,” the synopsis reads.

A Complete Unknown hits theaters on December 25th.
