Packers vs. Lions score, live updates: The NFC North titans are in a head-to-head race with division positioning on the line

December in the NFL means it’s time for the playoffs – although not usually this early – but with Buffalo and Kansas City in the AFC already in the postseason round for this year, it’s about time the NFC comes into play. Take on two of the league’s best teams for a massive new chapter in their rivalry, as the little brother of this series of the last few decades appears to be the first NFC team to punch its ticket to extended January football.

The 11-1 Detroit Lions can clinch a playoff spot at home on Thursday night against the 9-3 Green Bay Packers, who are well-positioned to become a playoff team in their own right in the coming weeks. These two were last seen on the same field in Week 9 in Green Bay – a 24-14 Lions win. Jared Goff was very efficient on the day, going 18 of 22 for 145 yards and a touchdown pass. Green Bay’s offense gained more than 400 yards in the game, but went just 3 of 12 on third downs and committed 10 penalties in the loss.

This win was win No. 6 in Detroit’s current 10-game winning streak, which is also the longest in franchise history. In 1934, the Lions also won ten games in a row before the series ended at home… with a loss to the Green Bay Packers.

The last time the Packers and Lions played in Week 9, Detroit safety Brian Branch was ejected for a direct hit and endeared himself to Green Bay and NFL fans by giving fans the double bird as they exited the game.

Branch’s teammates appeared to use this as motivation for the Week 14 game, printing the infamous image of this gesture on T-shirts.

  • Aidan Hutchinson has ditched his crutches and is now running in a pool

The Lions have 13 defensive players on injured reserve, which is why they have added players like David Long, Kwon Alexander and Jamal Adams in recent weeks. However, according to Prime Video’s Albert Breer, Aidan Hutchinson is aiming to return by the end of the season.

The Lions would need to make it to the Super Bowl. But Hutchinson is already running in the pool and walking without crutches.
