Trump receives the Patriot of the Year award at Fox Nation’s Patriot Awards

President-elect Donald Trump accepted the Patriot of the Year award Thursday at an event organized by Fox Nation on Long Island.

Trump, 78, accepted the award, which is modeled after the American flag, after a live performance of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” – the president-elect’s favorite introductory song.

In his acceptance speech, Trump reflected on his campaign for the White House and argued that the country is already seeing the fruits of his victory against Vice President Kamala Harris.

“We had such a spectacular election,” Trump said after accepting the award at the Tilles Center for Performing Arts in Brookville, NY.

The ceremony – FOX Nation’s sixth annual Patriot Awards – honored several inspirational figures, including military veterans, first responders and Stephanie Diller, the widow of slain NYPD detective Jonathan Diller.

“What I love about this is that unlike the Oscars, the Grammys or the Tonys, this honors the men and women who truly make the country great every day, unsung heroes and true patriots. They never get recognition,” Hannity told Fox News Digital. Getty Images

About 2,000 smartly dressed people filled the venue, many carrying American flags and “Make America Great Again” gear.

“And I think that’s what’s so special about it. And there are so many great patriots in the country who deserve recognition. It’s an honor to be a part of it,” he added.

The program presented awards for veteran service, valor, courage and several other categories.

About a dozen Fox News personalities, including Jesse Watters, Laura Ingraham and Judge Jeanine Pirro, appeared and served as moderators during the ceremony.

Trump survived two assassination attempts in 2024, including one at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in which the then-Republican presidential candidate was shot in the right ear.

Trump has made few public appearances since his election victory, choosing to lounge at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, as he assembles his new administration.

This week, however, the president-elect attended a memorial service for Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies killed in the line of duty — and also announced he would travel to Paris on Saturday to celebrate the ceremonial reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral was destroyed by fire during his first term.

Trump wrote on Truth Social earlier this week that he was “very excited” to travel to New York to accept the Patriot of the Year award, which he called “so beautiful.”
