Alaska Anchorage visits Merrimack for the first time in 33 years

The Merrimack Warriors return home to take on Alaska Anchorage at Lawler Arena on Friday night. The home series ends a phase in which the Warriors played seven of the last eight away games.

The Warriors lost two games to Boston University and Harvard at the Friendship Four tournament in Belfast last weekend. The Seawolves arrive in North Andover following a loss and draw against Wisconsin last weekend and a win over Stonehill on Wednesday night.

This will be UAA’s first trip to Lawler Arena since 1991.

Series history: Merrimack is 2-5 all-time against the Seawolves. The programs last met on October 20, 2012 in Fairbanks as part of a tournament hosted by Alaska Fairbanks (Anchorage won 6-3). The Seawolves defeated the Warriors 6-2 in the UAA tournament on October 13, 2006 at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage.

In the 2012 game, the Warriors fell behind 4-0 early, including two shorthanded goals. John Heffernan, Mike CollinsAnd Dan Kolomatis scored for the Warriors.

In the game 2006 Brock Wilson And Hank Carisio scored Merrimack’s goals. Jim Healey And Andrew Braithwaite Divide goalkeeping duties.

Merrimack’s last win over the Seawolves was November 22, 1989.

Merrimack is 1-1 against UAA at Lawler Arena.
