Warriors injury news: Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins will play against Suns

According to a report from Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Golden State Warriors will have both Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins in the starting lineup against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night. Curry missed the Warriors’ last game with a knee injury and Wiggins was placed on the injury report earlier this week with an ankle injury. According to Slater, both Wiggins and Curry were monitored during pregame practice and were cleared to play.

In 16 games this season, Wiggins averaged 17.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.8 blocks and just 0.9 turnovers in 28.4 minutes per game. His shooting performance was also the best of his career. He made 50.0% of his two-point attempts, 41.0% of his three-point attempts and 76.1% of his free throw attempts. In 14 games, Curry averaged 22.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.6 steals in just under 30 minutes per game.

The Western Conference standings remain incredibly compressed. The Warriors are 12-6 this season, currently have the third-best seed in the Western Conference and are just one game behind the Houston Rockets for second place and another game behind the Thunder for the top spot. However, they are only 3.5 games ahead of the number 11 seed Sacramento Kings. Needless to say, a healthy Steph Curry and Wiggins would go a long way in helping the Warriors make life easier late in the season as they volley into playoff position.
