In India’s challenging first innings against Australia in the pink-ball Test in Adelaide, Nitish Kumar Reddy showed his boldness with an unconventional shot. As the batting order changed around him, the young batsman was stuck at the batting pitch and had to undertake the difficult task of fixing the tailenders. Given the pressure, Reddy rose to the occasion and resorted to bold punches, pulling off a remarkable reverse scoop on Scott Boland.

When Reddy hit a long ball just outside the stump, he executed a flawless reverse scoop over the slips. The timing was impeccable and the ball sailed effortlessly to the boundary, all the way to a stunning six.

Reddy, who was clearly enjoying the bat, couldn’t help but smile as his batting partner Jasprit Bumrah was left amused. Rishabh Pant, known for his own penchant for unconventional shots, would also have nodded in agreement in the dressing room.

India were eventually bowled out for 180 in the first innings, with Reddy the last batsman to be dismissed for 42. Earlier in the game, Rohit Sharma, the returning captain, had won the toss and elected to bat at the Adelaide Oval.

However, India got off to a poor start as they lost a wicket on their first toss and Yashasvi Jaiswal fell prey to Mitchell Starc. Despite a strong 69-run stand between KL Rahul and Shubman Gill, India faced a batting collapse immediately after the former’s dismissal.

India lost six wickets in the second session after being reduced to 82 for 4 at tea. Virat Kohli, who scored a century in the previous Test in Perth, failed to make an impact in his happy hunting ground and was bowled out for 7 in the first innings.

Rishabh Pant (21), captain Rohit Sharma (3), Harshit Rana (0), Ravichandran Ashwin (22), Jasprit Bumrah (0) and Nitish Reddy were eliminated in the post-tea session as the Australian bowlers continued their dominance in the first game continued day of the second test.

Pacer Mitchell Starc was the best performer for Australia as he took six Indian wickets and conceded 48 runs. Meanwhile, captain Pat Cummins took two wickets, including that of Rishabh Pant.
