Relieving the burden on the police

From April to November 2024, around 100 cannabis-related crimes were registered in Hamm. This corresponds to a decrease of 70 percent compared to the same period last year. The police gave these numbers when LW asked. These are mainly violations of the ban on sales and purchases, which still exists. The relief of the police could also be aimed at the district court, although there are no concrete figures on this.

No cannabis club in Hamm yet

Smoking marijuana or hashish has been permitted since April as long as distances are maintained for children, young people, daycare centers, schools and playgrounds. Adults are allowed to carry up to 25 grams of cannabis; More than 30 grams is punishable. Cultivation of cannabis is permitted in certain quantities, either privately or as a member of a cultivation club. There is currently no approved cannabis club in Hamm.
