Hall of Famer Randy Moss is leaving ESPN to deal with health issues

Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss will step away from his role as an ESPN analyst for an extended period of time to focus on a personal health issue, the network said in a statement.

Moss, 47, revealed last week that he was suffering from health issues and asked fans to pray for him and his family.

Moss made his announcement on Instagram on the set of the network’s “Sunday NFL Countdown” show. He addressed his message to men, urging them to get examinations and blood tests without mentioning any specific disease.

“I just ask all prayer warriors to extend their blessing hands to me and my family during these difficult times. Last week people were talking about my eyes,” Moss said before donning a pair of sunglasses. “I’m fighting something, man, and it’s something internal, your boy will get through it. I have a great medical team and a great family around me.”

Moss was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.

“Randy was an invaluable member of the team and continued to move Countdown forward with his insight and passion,” ESPN said in its statement. “He has ESPN’s full support and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.”
