The 20 most listened to Christmas songs on Spotify in 2024

Christmas is just around the corner and many of us have our favorite festive songs on repeat, with the most listened to hits on Spotify predicting who will be the star of the season.

Gambling site Jackpot City has been tracking the number of Christmas song plays on Spotify since November 1st to predict which Christmas songs will be the top 20 and how often they will be played leading up to Christmas Day.

It’s no surprise that Christmas queen Mariah Carey came out on top with “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and was by far the favorite. The song’s streams increased by more than 41.6 million in the first three weeks of November. The song is expected to be streamed 1.83 billion times by December 27, bringing in new revenue for the singer.

Carey is joined on the list by some much more recent entries. Sabrina Carpenter’s “Nonsense Christmas,” which wasn’t released until 2023, reached the top 20, along with other recent favorites including Sia’s “Snowman.”

While these festive hits will be on everyone’s Christmas prep playlist in the coming weeks, there are a few other big contenders for the Christmas number one spot.

Of course it doesn’t have to be a festive song, but Bob Geldof is hoping his Band Aid charity campaign will get the 40th anniversary version of “Do They Know It’s Christmas” back to number one. However, due to some controversy surrounding the re-release, it may be less successful than previous versions. Meanwhile, Band Aid’s vocal critic Fuse ODG has released his own charity single We Know It’s Christmas in response.

Another charity candidate is “All You Need is Love”, recorded by a supergroup calling themselves The Celebs and made up of stars such as Frank Bruno, Anne Hegerty and some Love Islanders. This is in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital.
