Dan Campbell acknowledges the Lions’ Dan Skipper as he vomits during the passionate post-game victory speech

All the Detroit Lions have been able to do lately is win football games.

The Dan Campbell-led Lions defeated the Green Bay Packers to secure an NFL-best 12th win on Thursday night. Campbell’s fourth loss helped Detroit to a 34-31 win.

The fourth-year Lions head coach chose to keep the offense on the field on fourth down five times. But the fifth time in the fourth quarter proved to be the decisive one. Although quarterback Jared Goff stumbled during the handoff exchange with running back David Montgomery, the Lions still managed to get Lions kicker Jake Bates in position for a 35-yard field goal attempt.

Bates split the uprights as the final seconds ticked down.

An enthusiastic Campbell addressed the team in the home dressing room after the game.

“I told you you’d never forget this damn game,” Campbell said as the Lions players cheered. “We don’t have to talk about how tough we are. We don’t need to talk about how resilient we are. We f—— live it, man. We lived it!”

At some point during Campbell’s fiery victory speech, he noticed Lions offensive lineman Dan Skipper leaning over one of the trash cans in the locker room. Skipper took over the Lions’ left tackle job on Thursday in place of the injured Taylor Decker.

“Let’s go, Skip! Keep vomiting and keep doing what you’re doing over there,” Campbell said. “That’s one hell of a way to put it at risk.”

Skipper delivered a solid performance, allowing just one pressure on 44 pass-blocking plays.

While the Lions have won 12 of 13 games this season, the team has had to battle some injuries.

In October, star defender Aidan Hutchinson broke his left tibia and fibula. The injury will likely sideline him for the remainder of the regular season, but he could return to action in February if the Lions reach the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history.

“I’m so damn proud of you. That’s how you show yourself,” Campbell said. “Are you talking about pressure? We live under pressure. We thrive damn well there. You did it again. It doesn’t matter who plays for us. It doesn’t matter what’s going on.”

“You always find a way to win. This was a work in progress, man. This was in the making. We should all be here together, man. We are meant for this. Just stay the course.”
