Today’s top weather news: The winter storm in the Northeast is easing as heavy rain continues on the Gulf Coast

Snow squalls and blizzards make for treacherous travel as a winter storm hits the Northeast’s Great Lakes

A weeks-long dry spell across Texas and the northern Gulf Coast is coming to an end this week as torrential rain and thunderstorms threaten the region over the next few days.

The FOX Forecast Center said a weak low pressure system is expected to develop near the coast, helping usher in a surge of moisture from the southern Gulf of Mexico.

According to the FOX Forecast Center, the magnitude 7.0 quake is the strongest in the region since at least 2005, when it was a magnitude 7.2.
