Heisman Trophy odds: Betting favorites updated after Week 14

With less than a week to go before the 2024 Heisman Trophy finalists are officially announced on Monday, oddsmakers in Vegas continue to reflect betting trends that appear to heavily favor one candidate.

Two-sided Colorado Superstar Travis Hunter is still the overwhelming favorite to win this year’s Heisman Trophy, leading at -6000 odds, according to the latest Heisman odds from FanDuel.

That’s a significant increase from last week’s -800 odds for Hunter, creating a huge gap between him and him Boise State run back Ashton Jeantywhose odds have more than doubled from +650 to +1500 in the last week. Check out FanDuel’s full Heisman odds below:

As his famous head coach Deion Sanders became clear after Saturday’s 52-0 win Oklahoma StateHunter may have already “won the Heisman with this performance.” According to ESPN, Hunter recorded both an interception and an offensive touchdown for the fourth time this season, becoming the first player in the last 25 seasons to have at least two games with multiple scrimmage touchdowns and an interception.

With a season-high three touchdowns against the Cowboys, Hunter set the Colorado single-season record with 14 receiving scores and four interceptions this year. Hunter – also a finalist for the Maxwell, Bednarik and Biletnikoff Awards – is widely expected to become the Buffaloes’ second-ever Heisman Trophy winner, following in the 1994 winner’s footsteps Rashaan Salaam.

While Hunter is the overwhelming favorite to win the Heisman Trophy a week from Saturday, that’s not because Jeanty hasn’t done anything. With his fifth 200-yard rushing effort in last Saturday’s win over Oregon State, the Broncos’ running backs capped a historic regular season on the ground, leading the country with 2,288 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns on the season.

Jeanty is the first college running back to surpass 2,000 yards receiving since Alabama’s Derrick Henry during his Heisman-winning 2015 campaign. And Jeanty was even better, leading the Broncos to a victory in the Mountain West Conference championship game on Saturday shortly before participating in the College Football Playoffs. Without Hunter’s one-off 2024 season, Jeanty would be the undisputed Heisman favorite.

The battle for third place and possibly a ticket to the Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York looks like a five-person quarterback battle.

Gabriel leads undefeated No. 1 Oregon (12-0) into Saturday’s Big Ten Championship Game with 3,275 passing yards and a completion percentage of 73.5 and a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 24-6.

Aside from the worst performance of the season in the Hoosiers’ only loss to Ohio State, Rourke has been a quiet man for Indiana this season, including posting a 27-to-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio, which is top in the Big Ten top lies.

Whether it’s enough to secure Rourke a ticket to NYC remains to be seen, but he certainly made his case.

Jalen Milroe

While Milroe isn’t as consistent as many Crimson Tide fans would like, his dynamic playmaking ability cannot be denied. His goalscoring abilities cannot be surpassed either.

With 35 combined rushing and passing touchdowns – 20 and 15, respectively – Milroe leads the SEC in touchdowns this season.

Although two invitations to the Heisman Trophy ceremony are unlikely for one school, Sanders has certainly pushed for it to happen this season.

With Hunter as the clear No. 1 target, Sanders ranks second nationally with 35 passing touchdowns and third nationally with 3,926 passing yards, an average of 327.2 per game this season.

As sensational as Sanders was, Ward was arguably even better. The Canes’ quarterback leads the country with 36 passing touchdowns and is second nationally with 4,319 yards of total offense.

While Miami’s College Football Playoff hopes remain up in the air, Ward has more than made his case for being invited to New York as a Heisman finalist.
