Dolly Parton announced this week that auditions have officially opened for her new Broadway musical, “Dolly: an Original Musical.”

Parton took to Instagram on Thursday to launch a search for cast members who would help bring her story to Broadway in 2026.

According to the production’s website, the show is “looking for performers of all ages to portray Dolly at different stages of her incredible life.”

“I announce the search for Dolly,” Parton said in her video post on Thursday. “Whether you’re in a small town chasing your dreams or have spent years performing on stages across the country, I want to give you the chance to help me bring my story to Broadway and maybe even play me.”

Parton said she’s looking for talented performers who can best represent her life’s journey, “whether you’re a seasoned theater professional or an undiscovered gem with a twist.”

The legendary musician and songwriter said that a “select few” artists would be auditioning for the show’s casting director.

“This show is a tribute to my music, my life and all the amazing people who have accompanied me along this journey,” she added. “Now we are looking for talented artists who can capture the spirit of my journey.”

According to the official website, “Dolly: an Original Musical” is directed by Bartlett Sher, with music and lyrics by Parton.

The website instructs interested applicants to audition to upload a one-minute video to social media of themselves singing their favorite Parton tune and tag the post with #SearchForDolly. According to the website, acceptable social media platforms include Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube or Twitter (X).

Applicants can then complete the “Musical Application Form” on the dollymusical.com website to complete their submission.

Applicants under 18 must submit a casting video directly to the website. Entries must be submitted before January 12, 2025, 11:59 p.m. ET.

“Dolly: an Original Musical” will hit Broadway stages in 2026.
