Golden State Warriors announce Andrew Wiggins injury report against Timberwolves

The Golden State Warriors entered Friday night’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves after winning their first straight game against the Houston Rockets. Led by Jonathan Kuminga’s 33 points, the Warriors cruised to a 99-93 victory at Chase Center.

Steve Kerr opted to keep Kuminga in the starting lineup despite Draymond Green’s return from injury. With Stephen Curry also returning, the largely healthy Warriors wanted to put an end to Minnesota’s winning streak. However, a Warriors starter failed against his former team and his status has just been announced.

As announced via Warriors PR, Andrew Wiggins will not return to Friday night’s contest following a right ankle injury. Additionally, Moses Moody will miss the remainder of the competition due to left knee pain.

With 23 points and nine rebounds on Thursday night against the Rockets, Wiggins finished the night with 11 points for Golden State in 19 minutes of play.

After a 2023–24 season in which Wiggins struggled with some personal issues off the field and averaged a career-low 13.2 points per game, he rebounded this season by averaging 17.5 points per game and shot a career-high 43.0% from three in 19 games entering tonight.

Golden State will face Minnesota again on Sunday before traveling to Houston to face the Rockets in the first round of the NBA Cup. If Wiggins’ injury is serious enough, the Warriors could opt to sit him out and keep him fit for the elimination game in Houston.
