Warriors’ Stephen Curry is scheduled to play Friday; Green “possible”

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr said the plan is to have Stephen Curry back in the lineup Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Kerr also said he thinks it’s “possible” that Draymond Green could return against the Wolves.

Curry and Green did not play Thursday night against the Houston Rockets, the first in a consecutive home game for the Warriors. Golden State plays Minnesota again at home on Sunday, capping three games in four nights.

“Steph suffered a knee injury the last few weeks… he’s been sore,” Kerr said before facing the Rockets. “We’re not playing against him. We can’t play him every game and expect him to progress. I thought he looked really good in Denver. To me he looked more active and agile, but we have to help.” He manages to get through the forest.

“And the same goes for Draymond, because otherwise you’re chasing after you and then the guys are missing for weeks. So there’s nothing more than training staff to help them get through the woods and hopefully in the long run that they end up playing more games than they would have otherwise.

Curry missed his second game in the Warriors’ last four games due to treatment for bilateral knee injuries. Curry did not play in a Nov. 27 home loss to Oklahoma City because of soreness in both knees. He finished Tuesday’s loss at Denver with 24 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds in 34 minutes.

Curry admitted the injury could become a “nagging” issue, but said he and the team would try to get ahead of it. He said he was unsure whether he would have to miss future games as part of maintaining the problem. But he also emphasized that the injury didn’t worry him.

Green missed his second straight game with left calf strain. He underwent an MRI scan on Wednesday and the Warriors said the results came back clear. His status for Friday’s game against Wolves is being determined.

“I think it’s possible he plays,” Kerr said.
