The journalist Robin Ayers has died

The media world is mourning the loss of Robin Ayers, a beloved journalist, author and radio host, who tragically passed away on Thursday, December 5th. She was 45 years old.

Robin leaves behind her devoted husband Rob and her twin daughters Brooklyn and Madison, who were the center of her world. Just six days before her death, she posted an Instagram post celebrating Thanksgiving and her twins’ 18th birthdays, writing, “With the family! We’re celebrating Thanksgiving and the twins’ 18th birthday! Wow.”

A fighter and advocate

The exact cause of Robin Ayers’ death has not yet been publicly announced.

However, in 2023, she revealed that she was battling leiomyosarcoma (LMS), a rare and aggressive cancer that affects soft tissues, often in the abdomen or uterus. Despite her diagnosis, Robin continued to advocate for women’s health and shared her own journey with raw honesty. She used her platform to encourage women to listen to their bodies, especially when it comes to reproductive health.

“Sometimes you need life-changing moments to wake up,” Robin shared in a July 2023 candid post. “I learned that women all over the world suffer from problems with their reproductive organs, and we live with it for so long that we normalize the pain.”

Robin emphasized the importance of advocating for yourself, noting that women – particularly Black women – often go unheard when seeking medical help.

“Pay attention to your body, ladies, and listen to it when it’s trying to tell you something,” she urged her followers, a message that resonated with many.

A resilient spirit

Despite her health problems, Robin remained committed to her personal well-being. After suffering two car accidents and major surgery in 2023, Robin shared her determination to get back on track health-wise in September 2024.

“This year I have completely healed from back pain and major surgery,” she wrote. “So, here we are! I decided that #75hardchallenge could get me on the right track mentally and physically.” Robin’s commitment to her health and wellbeing, which she documented on social media, inspired many and she proudly shared her progress with her friends and followers.

A legendary career

Robin’s career has been a testament to her passion for storytelling and connecting with people. She was a respected journalist, author, speaker and radio host, known for her warm and engaging charisma.
