NBA: Trae Young’s three-pointer helps Atlanta Hawks beat LA Lakers

Trae Young scored a three-point basket with 7.4 seconds left in overtime to give the Atlanta Hawks a 134-132 home win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Young was the Hawks’ leading scorer with 31 points and 20 assists, while De’Andre Hunter added 26 points off the bench to secure Atlanta’s sixth straight win.

The Lakers suffered their third straight loss despite the best efforts of the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, LeBron James, who had 39 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds, while Anthony Davis had 38 points.

James had a chance to win the ball for the Lakers with the last shot of the game, but his three-point attempt hit the rim of the basket and bounced away.

The reigning NBA champions Boston Celtics extended their home winning streak to seven games with a 111-105 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Celtics trailed by four points late in the fourth quarter but rallied, thanks in part to Jayson Tatum’s game-high 34 points and 10 rebounds.

Damian Lillard’s 31 points had put the Bucks in a winning position, while Giannis Antetokounmpo contributed 30 points and 11 rebounds.

Elsewhere, Philadelphia 76ers rebounded from a home loss to the Orlando Magic to win the second game of their two-game series 102-94.

Star player Joel Embiid was missing from the 76ers due to a knee injury, but Paul George took over and led the hosts’ scoring with 21 points.

Anthony Edwards directed the Minnesota Timberwolves to a fifth straight win over the Golden State Warriors and scored 30 points in their 107-90 victory in San Francisco, with the two teams scheduled to face off again on Sunday.

Utah Jazz ended a five-game losing streak with a stunning 141-99 win at the Portland Trail Blazers Sacramento Kings earned a similarly convincing victory over the San Antonio Spurs with a 140-113 winner.

And Tyrese Haliburton scored 23 points for the Indiana Pacers in their 132-123 win at the Chicago Bulls, marking the visitors’ first win in five games.
