What does Bob Dylan think of Timothée Chalamet’s performance in “A Complete Unknown”?

Bob Dylan praises Timothée Chalamet, who plays the famous singer-songwriter in the upcoming film about Dylan’s life, “A Complete Unknown.”

Dylan stopped by X on Wednesday to share his excitement for the biopic and his confidence in Chalamet taking on the role.

“There’s a movie coming out about me called A Complete Unknown (what a title!),” Dylan wrote of the film that opens Christmas Day.

“Timothee Chalamet stars,” Dylan continued. “Timmy is a brilliant actor, so I’m sure he’ll be completely believable as me. Or as a younger me. Or as another self.”

The news “shocked” Chalamet, he said.

“I’m so grateful,” Chalamet wrote on X on Thursday. “Thank you Bob.”

“A Complete Unknown” is based on Elijah Wald’s 2015 book “Dylan Goes Electric!: Newport, Seeger, Dylan, and the Night That Split the Sixties,” which Dylan described as “a fantastic retelling of the events of the early ’60s.” to the Newport fiasco,” in his X post.

“After you see the movie, read the book,” Dylan urged fans.

The “Newport fiasco” refers to the time when Dylan played his first electric instrument show at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, which sparked controversy among fans and critics alike, who chastised Dylan for moving away from his folksy sound and performed with a rock band.

Chalamet’s covers of “Like a Rolling Stone” and “Girl From The North Country” were released on Friday, ahead of the film’s release on Christmas Day.
