SMU LB says Clemson’s ‘tires’ and ‘attention to detail may be lacking’

CLEMSON – Every week, the media covering the No. 17 Clemson Tigers hears from head coach Dabo Swinney and a select few players. The media also takes a look at what the opponent has to say about the upcoming match.

This week’s top quotes previewing the ACC Championship come from Swinney, SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee and players from both teams.

Swinney on playing SMU in a championship game and what he expects from Charlotte:

“Very explosive players on both sides and a well-coached team, but I’m looking forward to competing against them and playing for the championship. “It should be a great night, a great venue and I’m sure we’ll have a great one will have an audience…We are looking forward to the competition and doing our best to win.”

Lashlee on the game against the Clemson Tigers:

“It’s an exciting duel. We have a great opponent…a complete football team. It starts with the quarterback on offense, and on offense they really have good players at every level.”

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik on keeping the Tigers’ dream alive:

“Just being able to get back on my feet and strive to finish. We are just one game away from achieving the dreams we want to achieve and having our dreams right in front of our eyes. We have full control over what we want.”

SMU linebacker Kobe Wilson said they had to take advantage of Clemson’s fatigue:

“This group doesn’t really screw up much, but there are times when they get tired and may lack attention to detail. So we know we have to take every advantage we can, especially in the third half.”

Clemson offensive lineman Walker Parks on SMU’s discipline:

“The biggest thing I’ve seen at SMU is that they just have good players. They have good, experienced players who have played a lot of football… they are extremely disciplined. You have to have that to be successful as a football team and that’s why they’re so successful.”

SMU tight end Matthew Hibner treats the championship like an underdog:

“I’m going to go in there like we’re underdogs. We’re going to Carolina, so there’s going to be a big Clemson crowd, whatever. Feed that energy. It’s going to be good, it’s exciting.”
