Predicted line-up of Barcelona vs Real Betis: La Liga

Predicted line-up of Barcelona vs Real Betis: La Liga

Barcelona will look to extend their lead at the top of La Liga when they take on Real Betis at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.

After just one home win in November that saw the Blaugrana’s lead shrink, Barcelona returned to winning ways with a convincing 5-1 midweek win over Mallorca. Real Madrid’s loss to Athletic Bilbao means Hansi Flick’s men are now four points clear of first place as we approach the halfway point of the season.

Betis enters the game in the midst of a four-game La Liga winning streak that has seen them drop to 10th in the table after a promising start to the season. The recent history of the game speaks strongly in favor of the Catalans. Barcelona have won their last four games against Betis, outscoring the Seville-based team 15-3.

Flick’s team is getting healthier after resembling a hospital at the start of the season. Ferran Torres returned in midweek to score the opening goal against Mallorca and centre-back Ronald Araújo is moving ever closer to a return. However, a line-up of usual starters is expected for this game as Barcelona aim for a new domestic winning streak.

This is how Barcelona could play against Real Betis on Saturday, December 7th.

TW: Iñaki Pena—Peña will stand between the posts and keep Wojciech Szczęsny waiting for his Barcelona debut.

RB: Jules Koundé—Koundé bounced back against Mallorca after some shaky performances in La Liga. The Frenchman’s presence remains invaluable to Flick’s team.

CB: Pau Cubarsí—Cubarsí will be interested in signing former Barcelona player Vitor Roque, who is keen to score points after rarely playing during his term with the Catalans.

CB: Iñigo Martinez—Martínez must ensure that Barcelona are more disciplined about their offside trap.

LB: Alejandro Baldé—Given his talent and the lack of comparable options at the position, Baldé’s presence in the lineup is significant.

CM: Marc Casado– Casadó returned to the lineup after a one-game suspension, proving once again why he has become virtually untouchable in Flick’s team.

CM: Pedri—The former Golden Boy winner continues to consistently deliver world-class performances. He’s playing like one of the best midfielders in the world again.

RW: Lamine Yamal—Barcelona are yet to lose in La Liga this season when Yamal starts. In contrast, the Catalans have dropped points in every league game he has missed in the starting lineup.

AM: Dani Olmo—Olmo will make his first consecutive La Liga appearances since his injury in September.

RW: Raphinha—The Brazilian has recorded 17 G+A in 16 league appearances this season. Raphinha flies under Flick and wears the captain’s armband.

ST: Robert Lewandowski—Lewandowski was missing from the squad for the first time this season against Mallorca. Fully rested, the Polish striker wants to extend his commanding lead at the top of the race for the Golden Shoe.
