Tom Hounsell has overseen nine games during his tenure as Burton’s interim coach, having subsequently taken over the reins Mark Robinson‘s dismissal in October.

Hounsell began his time in the dugout with a defeat to Cambridge United before seeing his team go on an encouraging four-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

The 29-year-old then endured a difficult period of results which saw Burton suffer consecutive defeats in the league before they lost on penalties to non-league side Tamworth in the second round of the FA Cup last Sunday.

After picking up their second league win of the season, Burton will now aim to record back-to-back wins for the first time since February 2024 to close the seven-point gap to safety.

Burton midfielder Charlie Webster will serve the final game of a three-match ban after being shown a red card against Charlton last month.

Hounsell might be tempted to stick with the same Burton lineup that started in the 1-0 win over Peterborough in midweek.

Bennett will be one of the home side’s biggest attacking threats after scoring in the club’s last two competitive games.

Visitors are expected to attend without Steven Fletcher, Jack Marriot, Arthur Okonkwo And George Evans.

Experienced goalkeeper Mark Howard is expected to make his first league start this season after coming on to replace the injured player Callum Burton in the first half of Tuesday’s win over Barnsley.

James McClean And George Dobson is suspended for one game after receiving his fifth yellow card of the league season in midweek.
