Slight all-clear after great concern for Michail Antonio! The striker from Premier League club West Ham United was involved in a traffic accident on Saturday – but as his club announced in the evening, he is “in a stable condition”.

The 34-year-old teammate of national striker Niclas Füllkrug “is conscious and communicating and is currently being closely monitored in a hospital in central London,” West Ham said in a statement.

West Ham record goalscorer involved in traffic accident

The club had previously confirmed media reports that Antonio had been involved in a traffic accident.

“The thoughts and prayers of all members of the club are with Mikhail, his family and his friends at this time,” said a club statement.

Antonio is West Ham’s record goalscorer. The London-born Jamaican international joined West Ham in 2015 and has scored 83 goals in 323 games for the club.

With 68 Premier League goals, he is the most successful goalscorer in the Hammers’ club history.
