Dabo Swinney and Clemson football have been given a second chance at more than one championship at the conclusion of the 2024 college football season.

The 17th-ranked Tigers entered Rivalry Week with a conference record of 7-1, but still needed help to reach the ACC title game. And although a loss to South Carolina likely ended their chances of reaching the College Football Playoff as an overall contender, the Tigers got just the help they needed from Syracuse, which upset Miami in the final week of the regular season and Clemson advanced to the playoffs, advancing to the ACC title game in Charlotte, NC

A win there would not only give the Tigers their ninth conference title under Swinney, but also allow Clemson to advance to the 12-team College Football Playoff as one of the five top-seeded conference champions. All that stands in the way of the Tigers’ hopes of another CFP title is SMU, which has an impressive 11-1 record and an undefeated record in ACC play in its first year in the conference.
