Timothée Chalamet is shocking the world with his ball knowledge

A lot of people cracked jokes when it was announced that Timothée Chalamet would be the guest player on college game day at the SEC Championship in Atlanta this weekend. A lot of people made assumptions about his ball knowledge. That a French-American actor born and raised in New York City with a petite frame and an accent in his first name (not the black one) wouldn’t know a ball.

However, Timothée Chalamet is at least a somewhat self-confident person. He knew what the reaction would be if his name was announced. He knows his reputation. He saw the comments online.

And I’m sorry, Big T. I know how much it probably hurt you to listen to an actor with a French name try to talk ball.

But even though he has never watched a sport in his life, he is still one of the best actors in the world. And whether he knows his way around the ball or not, he’s going to put in 30 minutes of prep work so that when he takes the stage in SEC country, he’ll sound better than 99% of the people in the world who spend entire weekends on the couch and consume football until their eyes bleed.

Sorry, Blutman, I love you. From one villain to another, your eyes have been looking a lot better lately. And you know a lot more ball than Timothée. But whether Timothée controlled the ball or not, he definitely played the part today.

Honestly, anyone who thought anything else would happen was kidding themselves. Of course the actor will prepare. Or what the hell do I know? Maybe Timée really knows the ball. Maybe he just doesn’t advertise it because it’s not his “brand.” We don’t care what he does in his free time.

Anyway, well played, Timothée. You have taken your responsibility seriously and made a good contribution. That’s honestly better than the majority of guests that College Gameday brings. Better than some people on your own board (not to mention Corso).

And if that Ohio/Miami result holds up, then that’s pretty funny…
