Things to know: Bruins vs. Flyers

BOSTON – The Bruins will be looking for their seventh win in nine games on Saturday afternoon when they host the Philadelphia Flyers in a matinee at TD Garden. The contest is Boston’s last before a massive, 12-day, five-game Western road trip that begins Tuesday in Winnipeg.

“There’s a big game (Saturday) and a big road trip coming up, so it’s got to keep going,” Morgan Geekie said after Friday’s practice at Warrior Ice Arena. “We’ve been playing really well lately. We’re trying to keep that confidence.”

Reunited at the top

Interim coach Joe Sacco was looking for a little spark.

With the Bruins off to a sluggish start in the second end of a back-to-back on Wednesday night in Chicago, he decided to return to old reliability, pairing Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak with Elias Lindholm in the middle of Boston’s top line.

The reunion paid off as Pastrnak and Marchand immediately scored two goals to help Boston to a 4-2 victory over the Blackhawks.

“At that point we just felt like we needed a spark,” Sacco said. “I thought we got off to a slow start, which was somewhat to be expected. But you don’t want to start like that. It was just a feeling we had and it worked in this game. We’ll see how it goes.

“We got a good response together from Marchy and David and Lindy. And then the second line too. They gave us a good response there too.”

Pastrnak said the chemistry he developed with Marchand over the last decade — after years of being on the same line with him and Patrice Bergeron and being on the same power-play unit — was reemerging.

“It’s been a while since we’ve actually met and played together,” Pastrnak said. “For me, the last game changed the game. Both lines got going and sometimes that’s exactly what you need. The season is long. Personally, it helped me move forward in the last game.”
