The NIL star and Texas Longhorns quarterback is expected to eye a transfer move in 2025

The Texas Longhorns will have a big question to answer after the 2024 college football season.

Heading into the season, Quinn Ewers was widely expected to be a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. That would open the door for Arch Manning to become the starting quarterback for Texas.

However, Ewers has had major problems this season. It’s very likely he returns for another year of college football to try to improve his draft qualities again.

Of course, that means Texas has to make a decision. Do they bring Ewers back for another season or do they give the starting job to Manning knowing Ewers will move on?

Most likely they would stick with Manning and Ewers would move on.

Wynston Wilcox from Fan sided has predicted Ewers will enter the transfer portal this offseason. He believes the Longhorns are committed to Manning being their quarterback in 2025.

Ewers would quickly become one of the most sought-after players in the transfer portal.

Not only has he produced great talent on the field, he is also one of the highest paid NIL athletes in college football.

Ewers is currently ranked 13th among all NIL athletes. When it comes to NIL athletes in college football, he is reported to be ranked No. 7 in the rankings On3.

If he hits the transfer market, some teams will look to use their zero funds to secure a signing from him.

So far this season with Texas, Ewers has completed 67.3 percent of his pass attempts for 2,307 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also scored a touchdown on the ground.

Those are not the numbers he was aiming for. He was expected to have a much bigger season than he ever managed to deliver.

While he could still enter the NFL Draft and try out his chances, it would make sense for Ewers to return for another year and put up more production. He’s fallen so far down in the quarterback rankings this year that there’s no telling how far he could fall in the 2025 NFL Draft.

At least for now, it looks like Ewers could end up opting to test the transfer market and see who wants to bring him on board.
