Texas coach Steve Sarkisian used a really nifty ploy to create a big fourth down against Georgia in Saturday’s SEC championship game in Atlanta.

Needing just one yard to sustain a drive early in the second quarter, Sarkisian engineered a fake quarterback sneak that sent the ball directly to running back Jaydon Blue instead of giving it to Quinn Ewers to punt.

Blue made it around the Georgia defense almost unscathed and picked up the first down.

The play calling was brilliant and quite innovative, and we won’t be surprised to see this used in the NFL sooner rather than later. It takes a great snap from the middle to pull it off, but the reward is crucial distance to keep the drive alive.
