Bryce Mitchell claims he will be “redeemed” with victory at UFC 310, but still isn’t “satisfied” with having his hand raised

One of MMA’s most intriguing figures, Bryce “Thug Nasty” Mitchell, returns to action this weekend at UFC 310, a full year after he was brutally knocked out by Josh Emmett at UFC 296.

Ahead of his long-awaited return to the octagon, ‘Thug Nasty’ has claimed that he will be ‘redeemed’ when he ends up back in the win column – although that feeling will quickly disappear once he raises his hand.

Bryce Mitchell previews his return to action at UFC 310 after a 12-month hiatus

Bryce Mitchell was knocked out so badly in his last fight that he was left lying on the canvas, but after a full 12 months of rest and recovery, the UFC featherweight is hoping to turn things around this weekend in Las Vegas.

“I’ve been training a lot harder and I feel a sense of gratitude and urgency,” Mitchell told the UFC News team earlier this week, revealing that the win at UFC 310 will leave him with mixed emotions.

“It will feel great to get a win. I’ll feel like I’m redeemed… But I won’t be satisfied because I just want to keep winning because I feel like I still have a lot of work to do and I have a little time to do it.”

It was incredibly hard to recover from such a brutal knockout, but Mitchell found solace and solace in his growing family after welcoming a baby boy (and a new truck) into the world earlier this year.

“I have a son now, he’s seven months old, that’s the best part… I built a house; I don’t live in my little crappy trailer anymore, and the house is much warmer in the winter. I just got a new truck yesterday… a 1977 Ford, I’m really, really happy with literally everything that’s happened.”

The Arkansas native admitted the last 12 months have been “the biggest period of growth” he has ever experienced in the sport and is grateful to have spent so much time out of the spotlight.

“From (my) last fight to this fight it was a whole year and I really wasn’t hurt. For about a month after that fight I didn’t train very hard because I got hit pretty hard, but after about a month I trained really hard again and I think it was time I needed.”

Mitchell will face Brazilian submission specialist Kron Gracie on the UFC 310 main card next weekend. While this is certainly not an easy rematch, it is certainly the easiest fight Mitchell has had in recent years.

“I think he’s very tough, I think he’s very durable, and I don’t take him lightly,” “Thug Nasty” said of his new opponent.

“I just want to fight him. I don’t care where the fight goes, I will be like water and take the path of least resistance.”

UFC 310 takes place on Saturday, December 7th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
