Paducah, KY – Beginning late Sunday, western Kentucky is expected to be drenched in heavy rain, which could reach up to 1 inch by Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, the rain will begin Sunday evening, intensify overnight and ease Monday afternoon. The heaviest rains are expected on major routes such as I-24 and US 60, where wet roads and gusty winds could create dangerous driving conditions. Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time and be aware of slippery surfaces.

On Sunday temperatures will peak at around 15°C before falling to over 30°C overnight. Gusts can reach up to 20 miles per hour, adding to the challenges for evening commuters.

Scattered showers will continue until Monday and daytime maximum temperatures will reach around 18°C. However, cooling is expected midweek, with highs dipping into the 40s and overnight lows near freezing through Tuesday.

Residents are advised to monitor local weather updates and ensure outdoor plans accommodate rainy conditions. Next week promises a mix of sun and clouds as the rain eases, with drier weather returning on Tuesday.
